Switching from Maple
Maple is shutting down. Here’s where your family can go.
Maple closes on December 31, 2026, and everything in it is deleted after that. Before anything else: export your data. Then, if you’re looking for a new home for the family calendar, to-dos and meals, here’s what Kithful does — and what it doesn’t.
What’s happening: Maple’s team was acquired by the travel company Wander, and Maple is winding down.
Last day: December 31, 2026. After that the account closes and the data is deleted — it can’t be recovered.
Subscriptions: yearly plans won’t renew; monthly plans stay active until the end.
Do this first: get your data out
- Export from Maple before December 31, following Maple’s own instructions. Do this whichever app you move to.
- Screenshot anything you’d hate to retype — a long grocery list, favorite recipes, the kids’ activity schedule. A screenshot is a photo, and Kithful can read photos (see below).
- Check where your calendar really lives. If your family’s events are in Google, iCloud or Outlook calendars, they’re safe there — you just connect them to the next app.
How Kithful covers what your family used Maple for
A shared family calendar, color-coded by person
Add events by snapping a photo of a school or sports schedule, uploading a PDF, pasting the coach’s text (“practice Thursday 6pm”), or typing. Each person gets their own color. Connect your Google, iCloud or Outlook calendars by their share link so work and family sit on one calendar (here’s how), and subscribe to the family calendar from your phone’s own calendar app.
To-dos with who’s on what
Assign a to-do to a person, give it a time and a reminder, make it repeat (daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly), and snooze it when life happens.
Meals, recipes and the grocery list
A weekly meal plan, your own recipe box (type recipes in or snap a photo of a card or a screenshot), and a shared shopping list sorted by store and aisle. Tap a recipe and it adds what you don’t already have to the list.
Things Maple didn’t focus on
- What’s in the house — snap a receipt and it tracks what you bought and roughly when food expires.
- This week’s deals from your own stores, matched to what you’re running low on, plus a coupon wallet.
- Chores and Kid Mode — kids check off chores on a big-button screen; you approve and track points or allowance (the chore chart, with ideas by age).
- Visit notes — snap an after-visit summary and the follow-up appointments land on the calendar.
What’s different — honestly
It doesn’t read your email. You add things by photo, PDF, pasted text or typing. Nothing is pulled from your inbox.
It’s a web app for now. You add it to your home screen from the browser; there’s no App Store or Google Play version yet.
It’s in early access. We’re inviting families a few at a time. Join the list and we’ll send your invite.
It always asks before saving. Anything read from a photo lands in a review you confirm, so a misread date never slips onto the calendar.

Questions
When does Maple shut down?
Maple’s last day is December 31, 2026. After that the account closes and its data is deleted, so export anything you want to keep before then.
Can I import my Maple export into Kithful?
There isn’t a one-tap Maple import. What works today: connect your Google, iCloud or Outlook calendar by its share link, and snap screenshots of lists, recipes or schedules — Kithful reads them into editable items you confirm.
Does Kithful have a family calendar with a color for each person?
Yes. Every event can be tagged to a person, each person has their own color, and outside calendars can be connected and tagged to the person they belong to.
Is Kithful free?
Yes. Every feature is free for the whole family, with 30 photo/PDF scans a month; typing and pasting are unlimited. Kithful Plus removes the scan limit for $39.99 a year or $4.99 a month per household, and new households start with 14 days of Plus, no card needed.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
Not in the stores yet. Kithful runs in your phone’s browser and can be added to the home screen, where it opens like an app and can send reminders.
