Chore chart app
A chore chart app your kids can use before they can read
Kithful’s Kid Mode is a big-button screen where each kid taps their own character, sees today’s chores, and taps “I did it!”. A grown-up approves, and money or screen time adds up. Kids don’t need accounts or email addresses.
Who it’s for: parents of kids around 4 to 12 who want chores, allowance and screen time in one place, on a phone or a shared tablet.
Who it isn’t for: families who want a printable paper chart or a wall display (see how Kithful compares to Skylight), or teens who want their own app account.
How it works
- Add your kids and their chores. Pick the days each chore happens and its reward: money or minutes of screen time. Not sure what a 6-year-old can do? Pick from chore ideas sorted by age.
- Kids tap “I did it!” in Kid Mode. Your phone gets a notification to approve it.
- Approve with one tap. The reward adds to that kid’s balance. When they cash in, you mark it redeemed and the history stays.
What makes it work for little kids
Pictures, not words
Each kid builds their own cartoon character (hair, clothes, glasses, hats) and finds themselves by their face. The builder itself uses picture tiles, so a 4-year-old can do it alone.
Streaks, points and a little confetti
Finishing a chore shows a streak and a celebration. There are also a few short learning games on the kid’s screen, like Memory Match and a sorting game.
Taking turns, without arguing about whose turn it is
A chore like dishes can rotate between kids each time it comes up, or week by week. The app works out whose turn it is.
A tablet that stays the kids’ tablet
Lock a shared tablet to Kid Mode with a parent PIN, so it can’t reach the grown-up side. Each kid can also have a 4-digit PIN so siblings can’t tap each other’s chores.
Chores and grown-up to-dos in one place
Assign a job to a kid and it’s a chore; assign it to a grown-up and it’s a to-do with a reminder, like the jobs on a home maintenance schedule. Same list of ideas, one place to look.
What it doesn’t do — honestly
No photo proof. Kids don’t upload a picture of the clean room; you check and approve.
It doesn’t move real money. Balances are a record you pay out yourself.
It’s a web app for now. It runs in the browser and can be added to a home screen; there’s no App Store or Google Play version yet.

Questions
Is there a chore chart app for kids who can’t read?
Yes. Kithful’s Kid Mode works by pictures: each kid finds their own cartoon character, sees their chores for today and taps “I did it!”. A parent approves it from their phone.
Can a chore app track allowance and screen time?
Yes. Each chore can earn money or minutes of screen time. Approved chores add to the kid’s balance, and you mark rewards as redeemed when they cash in.
Do my kids need their own accounts?
No. Kids are names a parent adds, not accounts, and they need no email address. Kid Mode runs inside the parent’s household on a phone or shared tablet.
Can chores rotate between siblings?
Yes. A chore can take turns between two or more kids, either each time it comes up or week by week, and the app shows whose turn it is.
Is the chore chart free?
Yes. Chores, Kid Mode and rewards are on Kithful’s free plan. The only limit on Free is 30 photo/PDF scans a month, which chores don’t use.
