Family calendar app

One family calendar, with everyone’s work calendars on it

Two parents, two work calendars, a school calendar and three kids’ practice schedules. Kithful puts them on one calendar, one color per person, and turns the paper and texts into events: snap the schedule, or paste the coach’s “practice Thursday 6pm”.

Who it’s for: parents keeping track of school, sports and activities across more than one calendar.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs to edit work meetings from the family calendar. Connected calendars come in read-only.

How it works

  1. Add your family and give each person a color (tips on picking colors that stay readable).
  2. Connect the calendars you already have. Paste the share link from Outlook (“Publish a calendar”), Google (“Secret address in iCal format”) or iCloud, and tag it to a person. Kithful checks each one for changes every few hours. Step-by-step: where to find each link.
  3. Add the paper. Snap a school year calendar, a sports schedule or an invite, or upload the PDF. You check the dates before anything is saved. How scanning a schedule works.
  4. See it everywhere. The family calendar can show up in each phone’s own calendar app, and the Today screen leads with what’s next.

What makes it easier

Paste a text, get an event

“Dr. Smith appointment 9/4 at 3pm” or “practice Thursday 5:30–6:30 at Lincoln Park” fills in the date, time, place and who it’s for.

Reminders when you want them

A push reminder at the time, or 15 minutes to a day before. A weekly email can sum up the week ahead.

Multi-day events read right

Fall break shows as one bar across the week in month view, not five cut-off labels.

Holidays already there

US holidays, plus days like Mother’s Day and Halloween, appear on their own. You can turn them off.

What it doesn’t do — honestly

Connected calendars are one-way. Edits to a work meeting happen in Outlook or Google, not in Kithful.

It doesn’t read your email. Events come in by photo, PDF, pasted text, a calendar link or typing.

It’s a web app for now. You add it to your home screen from the browser; there’s no App Store or Google Play version yet.

Questions

Can a family calendar include my work Outlook calendar?

Yes. Paste your Outlook “Publish a calendar” link into Kithful under Connected calendars and tag it to yourself. Your work events appear in your color on the family calendar, read-only, and refresh every few hours.

Can I add events from a photo of a school schedule?

Yes. Snap the schedule or upload the PDF and Kithful reads the dates into events you check before they’re saved, including multi-day breaks.

Does each family member get a color?

Yes. Everyone in the family, including kids and grandparents, gets a color you choose, and their events wear it on the calendar and the Today screen.

Will the family calendar show up on my iPhone calendar?

Yes. Turn on the calendar feed in Settings and subscribe from your phone’s calendar app. Events added in Kithful appear there.

Is the family calendar free?

Yes, with no date limit and no ads. The free plan’s only limit is 30 photo/PDF scans a month; typing and pasting are unlimited.
