Health data privacy
Kithful is a household organizer, not a medical service, but a family can choose to save some health information in it. This page is our consumer health data privacy policy: what that information is, why we keep it, who receives it, and how you control it.
What health information Kithful can hold
- Doctor-visit notes. What you type or scan about an appointment: the person, date, doctor or office, what was said, medicines, measurements and follow-ups. Doctor visits ask for your consent before the first note.
- Follow-up appointments. A follow-up date on a visit note goes on your family calendar as an appointment.
- Paperwork you scan. A photo or PDF of an after-visit summary, referral or medicine list, read into a note you check before it’s saved.
- Foods your family avoids. If you tap an allergen in the recipe filter (for example, gluten), we save that the household avoids it.
- Anything you choose to type elsewhere, like a to-do or calendar event that mentions an appointment.
We don’t ask for health information, don’t infer it, and don’t collect it from your device, location or any outside source. It all comes from what someone in your household types, taps or scans.
Why we keep it, and how it’s used
Only to give your household the features you asked for: a history of visits you can look back on and search, follow-ups on your calendar, reminders you turn on, and recipes filtered for your allergies. We never use it for ads, never sell it, never build profiles from it, and never use it to train AI.
Who receives it
- Logins in your household. Kid Mode never shows visit notes.
- Our hosting and backup providers, which store the app’s data for us.
- Our AI services (Anthropic and Google), only for a photo or PDF you scan, to read it. They don’t train on it.
- Our email provider, only if you turn on the weekly email, which lists the week’s calendar, appointments included.
- Your phone maker’s notification service, only for reminders you turn on, scrambled so it can’t read them.
- People you share with. A sitter link or calendar link you share shows calendar appointments in it, follow-ups included.
The service providers page names each company and what it does. They act only on our instructions under their contracts with us.
Your rights
- See it. Everything is on your Doctor visits page, and Settings → Download my data exports all of it. Ask us and we’ll also list every company that received it.
- Stop it. Doctor visits → “Turn off health notes” withdraws your consent; nothing new can be saved until you turn it back on. Untap allergens to clear them.
- Delete it. Delete one visit note, or “Delete all visit notes”, at any time; their calendar follow-ups go with them. Deleting your household removes everything. Deleted data leaves our backups within 30 days.
- Ask us. Email privacy@kithful.app. We answer within 45 days. If we say no to a request, reply with “Appeal” and we’ll review it and answer within 45 days. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
